Innovative prevention of stress corrosion crack propagation in nuclear power pipe welds

چکیده

Abstract Failure caused by stress corrosion cracking (SCC) is inevitable during the long-term service of nuclear power pipe welds. This mainly due to propagation microcracks in deposited metal, which seriously affects operation safety pressure pipes. Overlay welding practical for repair welding, can introduce compressive residual inside weld seam. In this work, a diagonal T-pipe joint was fabricated using tungsten inert gas arc with ERRS-3 wire, and an overlay also wire under circumstances water no pipe. And then contour method finite element were employed measure calculate distribution joint. Both results showed that stresses into The zone area seam larger than without pipe, varies at different positions work expected promote application technology T-shaped prevent crack

Multiscale investigation of stress-corrosion crack propagation mechanisms in oxide glasses

Fracture propagation involves the coupling of many length scales ranging from the sample loading geometry to the molecular level. In brittle materials, the length scales of the damage process zone are reduced to a submicrometric scale and the coupling with the macroscopic scale is expected to be the domain of linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM). However, although 2D elastic analyses are ge...

Simulation of inter– and transgranular crack propagation in polycrystalline aggregates due to stress corrosion cracking

The motivation of the study is the development of a coupled approach able to account for the interaction between environment and plasticity in a polycrystalline material. The paper recalls first the constitutive equations used to describe the behaviour of the grain core and of the grain boundary (GB). The procedure that is applied to generate synthetic polycrystalline aggregates with an explici...

Observations on the Stress-corrosion Crack Propagation Characteristics of High-strength Steels

The relationahip between streas-corroslon crftck velocity and cracktip stress intensity is discussed. In most high-strength steels there is a wide range of stress intensity over which crack velocity is essentially constant. Methods of estimating this velocity are described. Values for a variety of high-strength steels are presented and the effects of metallurgical variables are indicated. Impli...

Stress- Corrosion Crack Initiation of High-strength Pipeline Steel in Near-neutral pH Environments

Stress-corrosion cracking (SCC) tests were conducted in the near-neutral pH standard solution, NS4, and in an actual soil solution, using four-point bending at a high stress ratio and low frequency conditions very similar to those of operational pipelines. Pitting incubation appeared first and then pitting initiated and grew in both solutions although there were many more pits on the specimen t...

Stress Corrosion Crack Growth Mechanism on SUS316L Stainless Steel

The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of stainless steel is one of the biggest problems for maintaining atomic power and chemical plants. However the mechanism has not been solved because of difficulty in observing hydrogen movement. In order to solve this problem, the author has developed a new SCC test method that enables the super Kelvin force microscope (SKFM) and the Kelvin force microscope ...
